We are pleased to announce that our state-of-the-art WalaLight System was selected as the first place finisher during this year’s Innovation Competition at the Lincoln Healthcare LINK Long-Term Care and Senior Living Conference, an event that took place in Chicago on July 13th – July 15th. We are very proud of the fact that the WalaLight System was selected from over 50 companies, including many well-established premier providers of products and services in the elder care industry.
The neo-natural WalaLight System is the innovation of USaveLED, LLC. The revolutionary technology of the WalaLight System incorporates smart Kelvin-changing LED lighting and controls that make it easy to vary the temperature of light, changing the color along the spectrum from bright sunlight to warm calming light, as well as allowing the user to adjust the dimness of the light. This is particularly significant because recent brain research has identified a linkage between exposure to natural sunlight and the secretion of hormones in the body that are responsible for controlling key body functions.
Since most individuals living in elder care or long-term care facilities do not get adequate exposure to naturally-changing light throughout the day (including both natural sunlight and darkness) due to the fact that all or most of their day is spent indoors, the lack of exposure can significantly affect health and behaviors. However, by utilizing WalaLight’s adaptive LED lighting abilities, residents of these facilities can be provided with the appropriate color of light to coincide with various times of the day, as if they were exposed to the natural outdoor light. Additionally, the light is especially useful for older individuals, such as those who live in elder care facilities, since only about 25% of light is transmitted through the lens of the eye as a person ages, as compared to the lens of a younger eye. WalaLight is the first and only LED ambient lighting system to provide the type of neo-natural light that is needed in order to promote normal brain and body functioning.
